STEAM Summer Camp with SJP Robotics

The Saint Joseph Prep Robotics Team had the pleasure of hosting 13 upper elementary and middle school students from Saint Columbkille Partnership School for a STEAM summer camp. Over the week long camp, students from SJP led workshops in 3D printing, coding, and robot design.

Using the LEGO Mindstorms, the students at St. Cols were able to build color-detecting robots, use sensors to navigate a maze, and to play music. The students also took a trip to the MIT Museum in Cambridge to view the Robotics exhibit, mechanical structures display, and the 3D holograms that are featured there.

A special shoutout to Shannon Cullen ’18, Kelli Aquino ’18, Nailah Khoory ’18 and Diane Camilo-Caceres ’17 who worked with the students from St. Cols throughout the week and shared their love of robotics and engineering with these future engineers. Because of their hard work, the students had a great time building robots throughout the week. Next year, the robotics team will be volunteering once a week at St. Cols teaching more students about robotics and engineering throughout the year.
