NHS Hosts Induction Ceremony

Saint Joseph Prep students were inducted into the National Honor Society in a ceremony held in the Holy Family Chapel at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston on May 16. Following a welcome by Assistant Head of School, Ms. McCarvill, an invocation by Sister Marilyn McGoldrick, and a presentation of the College Book Awards, the faculty advisor, Ms. Muth, introduced the mission and purpose of the NHS at Saint Joseph Prep. The incoming officers each presented on the four pillars of the National Honor Society: Kelli Aquino ’18, president, on Leadership; Hannah Sansone ’18, vice-president, on Scholarship (Hayley Leger ’17 read on behalf of Sansone); and Ziyuan (Sam) Wu ’18, secretary, on Character and Service.

As it is a tradition in high school to honor the academic excellence of rising seniors with Book Awards from colleges and universities, we fittingly use the NHS Induction evening to present these honors. These awards recognize not only the pursuit of scholarship in the classroom but also the leadership, character, attitude and extracurricular achievements of our scholars. We are proud of the members of the junior class awarded these honors, and they are, as follows: Destiny King ’18 (Emmanuel College); McKenzie Jennette ’18 (Regis College); Lily Fabrizio ’18 (Saint Anselm College); Yulin (Fred) Lu ’18 and Jihae Kim ’18 (Saint Michael’s College); Vivian Ho ’18 (Stonewall College); Caroline DiPalma ’18 (Fairfield University); Ziyuan (Sam) Wu ’18 (College of the Holy Cross); Emily German ’18 (Smith College); Michael Chmura ’18 (Brandeis University); Hannah Sansone ’18 (Boston College); Kate Stanislaski ’18 (Brown University); Ningkun (Kirk) Zhou ’18 (University of Chicago); Kelli Aquino ’18 (Yale University); and Nailah Khoory ’18 (Harvard College).
