February Student-Athlete of the Month

Saint Joseph Prep features a Student-Athlete of the Month. Based on the recommendations of their coaches, student-athletes are considered on a variety of criteria including performances both on and off the field/court/pitch/links/pool/ice. The February recipient of this honor is SJP Boys’ Hockey team’s Connor Lewis ’18!

The Boys’ Hockey team is having its best season in school history and is the only team in the winter season to qualify for the state tournament. With a record of 6-4-2, they finished the regular season tied for second place in the CCL2. The coaches credit a lot of their success to Connor, who posted five (5) goals and seven (7) assists on the ice before enduring a season ending injury. According to his coaches, “He is always on the ice early to work on his skills and is a great teammate both on the bench and in the locker room, making sure his line mates are engaged and doing the things we ask of them.”

In the classroom, Connor has earned Honor Roll status for this entire academic year so far while carrying a heavy course load, including two Honors level classes. As the son of Rita Carey Lewis, Newton Catholic ’83, Connor was featured among other legacy students in the last issue of The Phoenix Magazine.

Congratulations to Connor for being named February’s Student-Athlete of the Month!

This coming Thursday, March 2, the Boys’ Hockey team will play Lynn H.S. at 5:00 PM at Stoneham Rink in the first round of the MIAA State Tournament. Come out and support The Phoenix!
