SJP Celebrates Catholic Schools’ Week

From Monday, January 30 through Friday, February 3, Saint Joseph Prep joined Catholic Schools across the country in celebrating National Catholic Schools’ Week. The week’s themes focused on three tenets of Catholic education: Faith, Knowledge, and Service.

We began our week joined by Fr. James Flavin, Episcopal Vicar of the Central Region in the Archdiocese of Boston, as we celebrated Mass in the Holy Family Chapel of the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston. On Tuesday, we recognized our Honor Roll scholars with our Academic Awards Ceremony. Wednesday was Student Appreciation Day and students were treated to free taco lunch in Café Phoenix. On Thursday, we had Teacher Appreciation Day. The Campus Ministry Team, led by Sharon King ’17, Rebekah Forrest ’17, and JoJo Duplan ’17, organized breakfast for the faculty and staff, and also wrote letters of appreciation to faculty and staff members. The week ended with a celebration of service on Friday, as students and faculty shared their experiences of service through the Servants to the Dear Neighbor Program, the Urban Challenge in Camden, NJ, and the upcoming trip to Haiti. In all, the week was a wonderful reminder that “The Catholic School is at the Heart of the Church,” and at SJP, the Spirit is richly alive and thriving!
