Christmas in the City

On Sunday December 18, 23 students and 2 chaperones traveled to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center in South Boston to attend the city’s annual Christmas in the City event. Each year over 3,000 men, women, and especially children living in shelters across Boston, come to the BCEC for a Christmas celebration of massive proportions. The enormous facility is transformed into a huge party, including tables for dinner, a hidden gift room, and a huge Winter Wonderland. After arriving, registering guests, and serving dinner, our students accompanied countless children into the Winter Wonderland area for a few hours of fun and activities including crafts, candy, pickup soccer games, and even carnival rides! After the play area closed, students helped to distribute presents as Santa made a final appearance to the party. Meeting and playing with the children they met were highlights of the day for our volunteers who can't wait to come back next year!

Attendees were: Gabriel Hanna ’20, Brendan Sutliff ’19, Gabriela Ribeiro ’19, Isaac Amado ’18, Megan Bane ’18, Emma Wren ’18, Kate Stanislaski ’18, Jacob Orchard ’18, Julianna Parker ’18, Connor Lewis ’18, McKenzie Jeannette ’18, Kelli Aquino ’18, Hannah Sansone ’18, JoJo Duplan ’17, Hannah Burke ’17, Mary Forbes ’17, Jeonghun Kim ’17, Martine Bjoernstad ’17, Raphael Hanna ’17, Sharon King ’17, Sophia SaPonte ’17, Emily Taranto ’17, Allynne Ribeiro ’17.
