SJP at the Honan 5K

On Sunday, September 25, Saint Joseph Prep was represented by more than 50 community members at the 13th Annual Brian Honan 5K. As a fixture on the Allston-Brighton calendar, this run/walk is organized by State Representative Kevin G. Honan in memory of his late brother, Brian, a former City Councilman. The proceeds from the event support local education, housing, healthcare, and recreation.

This year, for the first time, Saint Joseph Prep operated a water station to help keep the 1,000+ runners hydrated. Because the route runs right past SJP twice, it was a great opportunity to support the run in a different way. We had more than 20 students and faculty handing out water, cheering on runners, and dancing to the music!

SJP also had more than 30 race participants, including students, staff, parents, and graduates. Patrick Gulledge ’19 was the fastest boy, followed closely by Anthony Khoory ’19 and Vova Quigley ’17. For the girls, Sophia Sa’Ponte ’17 was the first across the finish line, with Yilin Lu ’17 and Hannah Sansone ’18 coming in second and third, respectively. Mrs. Muth and Mr. Shiner were the fastest female and male faculty members.

Thank you very much to everyone who represented Saint Joseph in our efforts to support this worthy cause. While the School impacts change far and wide, it is always important to be a good neighbor and get involved locally. Thanks again to everyone who helped make the event so successful and we look forward to an even bigger turnout next fall!
