Opening of School Cook-Out

Last Friday, the Saint Joseph Prep community came together for our annual all-school cookout. This tradition not only marks the beginning of the academic year, it also represents an opportunity for students, families, faculty, and staff to come together and socialize with friends, both old and new. This is especially true for the newest members of the Saint Joseph Prep family including 9th grade families and new hires on staff.

The event was preceded by a very successful student-athlete family meeting. Mr. O’Leary provided several important updates and notifications from the Athletic Department, while Ms. Shea discussed health and wellness procedures and best practices.

Events like these require significant planning and effort, so there are several people to thank. First, to Mr. Koelsch, Tony Salvucci (P ‘14, ‘17), and Nailah Khoory ‘18, excellent work on the grill! No barbecue is complete without the food, and you all did a great job. In the kitchen, Mary Murphy (P ‘16, ‘19) and Mrs. O’Toole ran a tight ship, making sure the buffet was always stocked for the hungry masses. Thank you! Finally, thank you to Ms. McCarvill for organizing the evening. She seemed pleased by the event’s success... in spite her failed attempts to usher diners upstairs to the air conditioned, music-filled gymnasium. We hope you enjoyed the cookout and we look forward to more community-building events throughout the year!
